The Task Ahead

April-July 1991

As the decade of the 1990's continue to unfold, there are some simple yet major tasks that African Americans must undertake in order to counter racism, save our race and prepare us to achieve power, dignity and freedom by the 21st century.  To achieve these goals we must redefine the present status and role of institutions within our community and make them functional with one common purpose - One God - One Goal - One Destiny.  These institutions, which impact and shape the psychological development of our people, include the family, the educational system, the political arena, economics, media and the spiritual realm.  Presently, these institutions are in such disarray that as a people we continue to be disorganized and without a clearly defined purpose in our relationship with the rest of humanity.

Our people will progress when we begin to seriously analyze and understand the shortcomings of the above institutions and then put forward and act upon concrete solutions to these problems.  We must also understand that we are an international people, and therefore we have to become involved in global economics and politics.  Thus, the Universal African American Peoples Organization has adopted an eight point platform that addresses many of the social ills that are negatively impacting African Americans.

In order to actualize the concepts of our eight point platform, it is our intent to organize and establish the following wings of the Universal African American People’s Organization:

1.) AA International Enterprise - to develop an economic base for our people

through international trade ventures and other businesses as a means to create

                  employment.

2.) AA International Attaché Department - to develop political, cultural and

economic relations with the world community.

3.) AA Political Movement - to increase the number of progressive minded African Americans to public office in proportion to our numbers in the United States

and influence the national, state and local political systems.

4.) AA Educational Foundation - to build independent and tutorial schools.

5.) AA Universal Relief Agency - to help the less fortunate of our community.

6.) AA Peace Corps - to develop a youth movement, with the major components

being the Rising Sons and Rising Daughters.

7.) AA News World - to create a strong and independent media to redefine our

images and provide guidance for our people.

Once these aspects of the organization are fully implemented, it is our belief that we can mobilize and stimulate the people to the levels of involvement similar to the movement that the Honorable Marcus Garvey achieved in the 1920's with over four million supporters.  We say that the spirit of Marcus Garvey’s movement must be revitalized and we stand ready to go forward in that historical task.  Therefore, we need you Black Man/Black Woman to join and/or support the Universal African American Peoples Organization.
