The Task Ahead

August-October 1991

As the drawing of a completely new century appears on the horizon within a short nine year span, it is imperative that African Americans and our people throughout the world face squarely the issue of our role on this planet earth.  Shall this role be as it has been the past four centuries?  A role, whereby we as a people have been victimized through wars of conquest, exploitation, and eventually enslavement with a continued economical, political, and cultural degradation that remains unabated today.  Shall the 21st century be one where the genocidal forces continue to run rampant?  This is evidenced by the unprecedented incarceration of our people here in the United States and South Africa, massive drug and alcohol use and abuse, the AIDS epidemic, political under-representation and misrepresentation, an educational system that mentally destroys our youth and the continued under-development and exploitation of many parts of Africa.

Or shall the 21st century witness the rebirth/resurrection of our people to unlimited heights of glory and power?  Shall this approaching century be the one whereby our people will unite here in the United States to completely change the ruthless economic and political leadership of this country, or minimally we gain our human rights and full access to the fruits of this society.  Shall this upcoming century see the last vestige of overt white rule ended in South Africa?  Will this coming 21st century see the 50 or more countries on the motherland continent unite as the United States of Africa to industrialize and achieve technological parity to the Western world?  Will the arrival of the 21st century see the masses of African Americans awaken from their lack of political development to realize the need for dual citizenship with Africa, just as Jews in America have with Israel?  Countdown to the 21st century, what shall it bring?

It is the contention of the Universal African American People’s Organization that our time must be seized and realized in the 21st century.  So we encourage you to prepare yourself and your offsprings for this new beautiful and glorious age by becoming involved in God’s mandated and inspired task of redeeming our people through dedication, hard work and organization.
